These Healthy Vegan Protein Waffles are made with oats and Arbonne plant-based protein powder. They are flourless, eggless, extra fluffy, and perfect for meal prep! This recipe is super easy to make as we are using a blender to make the batter. It is also gluten-free, refined sugar-free, dairy-free, and totally kid-friendly!

Crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. This is my definition of a perfect waffle. With just a little bit of sweetness and a pinch of salt. Perfection.

We made this recipe as an experiment first, but it instantly became our go-to waffle recipe. It just checks all the boxes: It’s healthy, protein-packed, and it has the perfect texture and taste.

When using plant-based protein powder, most of the time, you can tell. There is usually this lingering after-taste that is very hard to get rid of. But thanks to Arbonne’s super tasty Chocolate Protein Powder (which tastes like chocolate cake), there’s no after taste, at all!

It really is the tastiest plant-based protein powder I’ve ever tasted.

How to Make Vegan Protein Waffles

1. Preheat your waffle iron.

2. Pour the rolled oats into a high-velocity blender (like the Vitamix), and turn it into fine flour by blending it at full speed for 30 seconds. Transfer the oat flour to a separate bowl.

3. Add the mashed banana, almond milk, melted coconut oil, and maple syrup to the blender container and blend at high speed until very smooth (about 30 seconds).

4. Add the rest of the ingredients to the blender and blend for an additional 30-45 seconds, or until very smooth.

5. Pour the waffle batter into your waffle iron according to manufacturer’s directions. (Every waffle iron is different, so make sure you have the right measurements for your particular unit.)

6. Cook the waffles until there is no more steam coming out of the waffle iron, or until the light on your waffle maker turns on (not every waffle maker has an indicator).

For How Long do You Cook a Waffle in a Waffle Maker?

Once your waffle iron is at the right temperature, it takes around 5 minutes. Most waffle makers nowadays have an indicator light which tells you when your waffle is ready, though, but if yours doesn’t have one, a good way to know when its done cooking is when no more steam is coming out.

Why Are My Waffles Sticking to The Waffle Maker?

Make it hot!

Most of the time, this is because your waffle maker is not hot enough when you start pouring the batter. Make sure to refer to your user’s manual to know when it’s ready, every unit is different, but usually, there is an indicator light.

Clean it up!

It might also be due for a good clean-up! Over time, a waffle maker that is not properly cleaned up every few baking sessions will start building up dirt on its cooking surface, removing its non-stick properties.

Which Protein Powder did You Use?

For this recipe, I used Arbonne’s Plant-Based Chocolate Protein Powder. Like I said above, it is the most delicious, after-taste-free plant-based protein powder I’ve ever used, and I highly recommend it for baking. You could also use their Vanilla Flavor as well.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron.

  2. Grind the Oats. Turn the 1 cup rolled oats into a fine flour using a high-velocity blender at full speed for 30-45 seconds. Transfer the oat flour to a separate bowl.

  3. Liquid Ingredients. Add the 1/2 cup mashed banana, 1 1/4 cup almond milk, 1/3 cup melted coconut oil, and 2 tsp maple syrup to the blender container and blend at high speed for 30-40 seconds, or until smooth.

  4. Add Dry Ingredients. Add the oat flour from step #2, 1/2 cup Arbonne Plant-Based Protein Powder (chocolate or vanilla, I used chocolate), 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp sea salt to the blender container. Blend until very smooth (30 to 45 seconds).

  5. Pour the Batter into your waffle iron according to your manufacturer's instructions. Cook for around 5 minutes, or until the indicator light turns on or there is no more steam coming out of the waffle maker.

  6. Serve with your favorite healthy toppings. I used maple syrup, coconut whipped cream, and blackberries.

  7. Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days in an airtight container or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
