Add a little spice to your life with a Michelada. The perfect balance of tomato, lime, hot sauce, and an ice-cold beer. A tradition that you shouldn't miss.

Michelada is a comforting co*cktail. You know how Bloody Mary's are served at a brunch or on a party day a bit earlier than usual?

Well, the Mexican Bloody Mary lets you take it even a little easierbecause the vodka is switched out with your favorite beer. Yes, that means you aren't going to get knocked out of your socks in the a.m.

Lime is also added for the Mexican flare and, of course, some hot sauce. There is even a little chili seasoning mixed with the salt for the rim.

Sounding good? Oh, it is!

You might think it is too hot but it isn't. There is just more spicy flavor in this Michelada recipe which mixes great with tomato and beer.

I use to carry around a prejudice against yuppies (the 90's?). I know, it sounds terrible.

Does that term even exist anymore? Don't ask me because I don't even know what a yuppie is!

Anyway, this is how my brain worked. I thought that yuppies (whoever they are) invented putting limes in Corona beer.

So, you couldn't put limes on your prettiest platter and get me to squeeze lime juicein my Corona. I am laughing at myself.

Sometime, in past years, I learned from my nephew (he surfs in Mexicoon a yearly trip) that it is a Mexican way of life to put lime in ALL of their beers.

I went, 'Oh!!! I was so wrong. Now I'm always going to put alime in my beer." I know. I am easily swayed and thank goodness my prejudicesare frivolous.

So, check out this Michelada recipe to enhance your South of the Border experience and have fun.

Another Mexican inspired co*cktail

Oh, I almost forgot! Another fun co*cktail to serve at special occasions is the Silver Cadillac Margarita. So very very refreshing.

Let me slip in this one pic of the margarita. It's so good and pretty too! There's a golden recipeon that post too.

You can see why I wanted you to take a look. It's so hard to describe food or drink without pictures.

How to set up a Michelada recipe bar

  • This will add more color and festivities to the area indoors or out.
  • Sidebar or table and it would be especially handy if you could work at it standing up.
  • Glassware of your choice. You could also use taller beer glasses too.
  • A short but wider glass container for green olives.
  • Another matching holder or tray to hold lime wedges.
  • Picks to hold the olives. A saucer with lots of the salt and chili seasoning for dipping.
  • Lots of ice and tongs for placing ice in the glasses.
  • Tomato mixture in a pitcher or large measuring cup for pouring.
  • Beer!

P.S. For the bar - a shortcut would be to have the olives already on the picks as they are in the photo right below.

It'll make things a little easier.

Another hint is if you pre-cut a tiny slice into the center of the lime wedge it will slip onto the class rim much easier.
